There are countless reasons why people seek therapy – whether it’s the daily stressors of life, relationship struggles, or painful experiences and emotions.  Challenges are a part of life, and no one is immune to them. Sometimes these challenges become too much to bear on our own, or we find that our efforts to solve the problem simply aren’t working.  No matter your reason for seeking therapy, know that I will do my best to support you and understand the challenges you face.  Your vision for the life you want we will be my guidepost, as we step bravely into the process of therapeutic healing together.

My goal is that we build a relationship of trust and empathy, where you feel safe enough to take the risks that come along with growth – the risks of processing difficult experiences, learning new skills, and gaining insights into your life.  Through this process I believe both healing and empowerment are possible.

Therapy should be as unique as you. Therefore, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques and theories when we work together based upon what feels like the best fit given your feedback and my professional perspective.  Some therapeutic approaches I commonly find helpful include elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT).

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults.  My experience includes working with adults of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds with various symptoms including: depression, anxiety, substance abuse, personality disorders, PTSD, and psychosis. Additionally, I have worked with individuals facing a variety of other life challenges, including: homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault, life transitions, relationship issues, traumatic brain injury, physical and developmental disability, and legal issues/court-mandates.

I earned bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and English at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at St. Cloud State University.  I completed two practicum experiences at St. Cloud State University providing individual and group therapy for undergraduate students.  I also completed an internship at Hennepin Healthcare in the William W. Jepson Day Treatment Program providing therapy for the CBT for co-occuring diagnoses treatment track and the DBT treatment track.  I am a Mental Health Practitioner working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) under supervision.
