Alison Dolan, Psy.D., LP

St. Louis Park psychologist

At some point in all of our lives, we can benefit from support to manage life’s challenging moments. There may be times where we do not feel as though life is going as well as we planned, which can leave us feeling frustrated, depressed, anxious, empty, or hopeless. Seeking support during these times has been shown to help lessen the harmful impacts from these emotions, helping individuals navigate these events is one of the reasons why I chose to pursue my doctorate.

I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to have someone work with us to nonjudgmentally understand our experiences, process difficult experiences, gain deeper understandings about ourselves, and work towards living the life that we have envisioned. I understand we are unable to choose our challenges in life, but find empowerment in learning how to effectively respond to them. Therefore, I work to help you to illuminate your own unique story in recognizing challenges and strengths, while helping you find your own answers and path on your journey.

I work with children, adolescents and women who are experiencing mental health distress. Each individual responds to and copes with different life events in their own way. This is why I work with each individual to develop a meaningful treatment plan to help address their specific needs and guide the process of therapy, as it can be overwhelming at times.

I incorporate a variety of therapy techniques ranging from interpersonal theories to skill based approaches while weaving in humor, books, play/art, and mindfulness. A range of techniques helps me individualize each session to meet each individuals’ specific needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
